The strands of stainless steel rope can be opened to the degree desired. I usually ship this tool as shown on the left in picture 3. If you prefer and let me know, I will ship it totally closed (center, picture 3) or can seal the tip (see on the right in picture 3), if you want to use it more as an impact tool.
